Make sure it is properly connected.

Also check if you have updated the correct drivers for your network card. This is the biggest problem I see to end users when their computer.

If your network card is enabled and working properly, is set to static or DHCP? If you simply move to DHCP (if the router to be connected as well) must be good.

Hope this helps, good luck

I have a Linksys router and Wi-Fi card. Both were new. The software that comes with them does not work! He had to make calls to Linksys support to get installed the router. Tried to use Linksys support Wi-Fi card, but not. Finally downloaded, Linksys, a program that eventually did. Good luck. BTW has nothing to degrade with the team, it's just bad software from Linksys.

Well first, and it is only an opinion. Upgrade to Windows XP.
Next:
You should know if you have successfully installed the network driver with a clean install.
Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections.
If not, see nothing, you have the drivers for your card. It will.
Next step:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Search for network interface cards: You can see that there are red x AA or point excaimation beside her. These alerts can help find problems.

XP drivers for your network card is likely to be from the manufacturers website. You may have to use another computer to connect to connect to and download. You can use a flash drive for drivers on the computer that needs it.

Good luck!
